AWS/Bonus for Staff on Maternity Leave
QUESTION
I would like to seek your advice on AWS/ Variable Bonus entitlement for staff who took Maternity Leave. We have 3 office staff who took 16 weeks of maternity leave this year.
Their whole year attendance was 30% to 50% lesser as they took other leave (annual leave, sick leave, compassionate leave, childcare leave).
Any suggestions on their entitlement for AWS/ Bonus?
Thanks
Tess

We will pro-rate for such cases.

All the leave you mentioned are paid leave, so we don't pro-rate. But we pro-rate for unpaid leave, n only if the unpaid leave is more than 5 days.
Fyi, for sales incentive , if the employee is absent throughout the qualifying period , eg the financial quarter she would not receive the incentive, since she was not around at all to contribute to the actual sales achievement .

AWS/BONUS are not mandatory under EA.
Thus, employer has a prerogative to pro-rate such payment if an employee does not contribute a full year of expected responsibilities or duties.
Of course, leave entitlements cannot be pro-rated.
