Introduction

Organizations must be able to build and sustain a workforce that is competent to operate effectively across the world if they are to compete in today's internationalized environment. They must also deal with economic, logistical, legal and cultural differences that impact workforce management.

Attracting and retaining people with the critical skills and knowledge necessary to compete in a internationalized environment requires an understanding of how to effectively brand the organization as a preferred employer and how to offer a value proposition that results in a competent workforce. In order to motivate that workforce to put forth their best efforts and to focus them on organizational needs performance must be defined, measured and rewarded fairly, competitively and appropriately.

The strategies and programs for managing the workforce must also be acceptable to employees, consistent with their values and beliefs and their cultural orientation. In order to achieve this organizations must recognize cultural differences, respect the right of people to have different beliefs and reconcile the issues raised by cultural differences.

This competency-based certification qualifies participants as a Certified Human Resource Specialist (International Human Resources Management) upon successful completion.

Module 5 - The Role Of The International Human Resources Function

• Developing a philosophy that defines HR's role.

Who should attend

Senior HR Executives, Assistant HR Managers, HR Managers/HR Generalists who are responsible for managing the organization's people across the globe and possess at least 5 years of HR managerial experience or at least 3 years of HR managerial experience with HRSINGAPORE's Certified Human Resource Administrator (CHRA) qualification.

Robert Greene

Dr. Robert J. Greene has a PhD (Applied Behavioral Science) from Northwestern University, an MBA (Human Resource Management) from the University of Chicago and BA (Economics) from University of Texas and has over thirty years of industry and consulting experience with organizations on formulating and evaluating human resource management strategies and designing, implementing, administering and evaluating performance and compensation management programs. He also provides counsel on defining, assessing and reshaping organizational culture and effectively managing cross-cultural workforces.

He was a principal designer of the CCP, GRP, PHR, SPHR and CPHRC certification programs and brought the GRP program to Singapore at its inception, working in conjunction with the Singapore National Employers Federation. He has taught and spoken around the world and was an expert advisor to the SHRM Global Learning System and principal author of the SHRM Learning System module on Compensation, as well as several certification courses in the GRP and CPHRC certification programs.
 
He is also a faculty member for DePaul University's MBA & MSHR degree programs internationally.
