Contract of Service Employee

QUESTION

Hi HR Folks,

The company has several contracts of service employees serving 1-year contract employment and its renewal is subject to approval and available projects.

I would like to know would there be any offence should the company not to renew the contract for one of the employee as she had reported that she is pregnant currently. Her employment contract commenced from 2 July 2018 till 1 July 2019 and by the end of her contract, she will be 4 months pregnant.

Please advise should you have any experience on how to tackle this situation?

There is no offence to renew as it is a fixed term contract even though the employee is pregnant.
