Converting Annual Leave to MC

Can an employee request to convert his or her annual leave to medical leave (MC)?

In response to your question, if an employee falls sick while on annual leave, he or she can request to convert the annual leave to medical leave (MC).

However, this is subject to the company’s leave policy and the agreement between the employer and employee.

In general, if an employee falls sick while on annual leave, he or she should inform the employer as soon as possible and provide a medical certificate (MC) from a Singapore-registered doctor to support the absence from work due to illness.

The employer may then consider converting the annual leave to sick leave, subject to the company’s policy and the availability of sufficient medical documentation. It is important to note that this process may vary depending on the company’s HR policies and procedures.

Ya. agreed. – MK

Firstly, AI should state the regulation under the Employment Act. Secondly, AI can state that the options available to employers if they wish to be more generous than the regulation under the Employment Act ie subject to the employer’s policy on sick leave. This is a clearer approach with regard to this question. – Ann
