Malaysia Childcare and Paternity
Question
Dear HR Professionals,
Recently I took over Malaysia office and reviewing their employee handbook. At the moment the company only offers 1-day paternity leave and nothing further. I think this is outdated. Please share your current leave entitlement for paternity and childcare.
Thank you.

We do not provide paternity and childcare leaves to our employees in Malaysia as it is not a legal requirement there. This is also in line with our practice in Singapore whereby foreign employees are not entitled to paternity leave as it is not a legal benefit. However, childcare leave is provided to all eligible employees as it is a legal benefit.

Probably would recommend checking the Malaysia labour law on this matter.

Malaysian Employment Act 1955 does not provide for mandatory paid paternity and childcare leave.
