No Pay Leave Calculation
QUESTION
Dear HR Professionals,
I have a fulltime employee who joined us on 7 February 2019. We are on 5-day (Monday-Friday). He is drawing a monthly basic salary of $1000.00.
As he joined us on 7 February 2019, his February 2019 pro-rated salary is 1000/20 x 16 = $800
He has taken 2 days of No Pay Leave in February 2019. How should I calculate his 2 days of NPL which he has taken in February 2019?
Formula 1 – 1000/20 x 2 = $100 (for 2 days NPL in February 2019)
Or
Formula 2 – 800/20 x 2 = $80 (for 2 days NPL in February 2019)
Please give me your expertise advice. Thank you.

Use formula 1, according to MOM.

The calculation shall be based on the basic salary offered.

If there are no conditions in HR Policies or the Collective Bargaining Agreement,
it should be calculated his 2 days of NPL which he has taken in February 2019 by
Formula 1 – 1000/20 x 2 = $100 (for 2 days NPL in February 2019)
or
Formula 3 – 800/16 x 2 = $100 (for 2 days NPL in February 2019)

It has to be 1000/20 = 50 per day.
If he or she is on 2 days no pay leave that is as good as deducting from him 100 in total (50 x 2).
If you to take 800 for 16 days he/she is working then again it works out the salary is 50 per day so 2 days absence/no pay leave will be 100.

You have to use Formula 1

Please follow Formula 1.
You cannot base on Formula 2 as the unpaid leave deduction depends on per day wages based on the basic wage and base working days for the month.
