Public Holiday
Question
Dear HR Professionals,
If the company sends an employee for 2 weeks overseas job and Singapore public holiday falls within this period of time, do we compensate him PH in lieu even though he is given daily allowance?
Thank you.

We will compensate the PH with leave credit to the staff.

Company will compensate in general because it's not their choice but duty that calls for... if the travelers have options they probably would have scheduled it after or way before the holiday... just ask the question: what has the company got to lose to compensate for 1 day off in lieu to the affected employee and has nothing to do with whether or not the allowance is paid.

We credit off in lieu as it is a statutory benefit. The daily allowance is for his overseas expenses.
