Retrenchment or Retirement
Question
Dear HR Professionals,
We would like to check if the staff is being forced to retire (beyond the retirement age of 67). Please advise if he can go TADEM to request for reinstating of employment or otherwise.

The current retirement age is at 62 years until changes are legislated. Re-employment up to 67 years. If he is beyond 67 years, technically, he can be retired.

Under the Retirement and Re-employment Act, retirement age is still 62 years old while the re-employment age is up to 67 years old. If the employee is older than 67 years old, the Company can retire him without further compensation. The company, however, can offer a goodwill retirement award.
