Employee Resignation – Notice Period

Question Hi HR Practitioners, One of the staff resigns and does not want to serve the required period notice but instead choose to compensate the company. Can the company insist that the staff works until the last day of the employment contract? Please advise. The employee has the right to leave before the notice period has ended, by paying the salary in lieu of notice. It is an offence for employers to disallow employees to leave their job (or requiring them to stay on their job till the last day of the notice period).
