Working Hours
Question
Dear HR Professionals,
We are a Japanese food trading company and our working hours are from 8:30am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday (lunch time from 12:00pm to 1:00pm).
Appreciate if you could share on your company working hours especially those who work in Japanese companies, as I would like to obtain some info to convince my Management to adjust our working hours.
Thank you very much.

It depends on the industry in which we work for. We are a Japanese construction firm and we have different working hours for different groups of workers. For site personnel, they work from 8 am to 7 pm for 6 days. For office staff is 9 to 5.30 pm and alternate sat day off but if we have work to be done urgently, we usually work till 7 or 8 pm.

The working hours from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm less one hour lunch is still within the 44-hour week legislated by Singapore MOM. In your case, you are working 42.5 hours per week only.
